Filtered Dust Streams This tutorial will show you how to create realistic dust and sunlight filter.
Step 1:
Lets start with these Persian Columns.
Step 2:
Choose select and then color range. Make sure you have Highlights selected and the selection radio button clicked. Click ok.
Step 3:
Hit the control J button combo to create a new layer. It will only grab what is selected. Hit control J again just one more time.
Step 4:
Now using the top layer choose Filter/Blur/Radial Blur.
Step 5:
Make your Radial Blur similar to what I have below.
Step 6:
Now you will need to keep your top layer selected and hit Control F. Then do this two or three more times. After this hit Control J two or three times to increase the light ray effect. Still with the top layer selected.
Step 7:
Now we are going to merge all the visible layers except the background. Make sure you uncheck the visible eye button next to the background layer before proceeding. Once done click on Layer/Merge Visible.
Step 8:
Now with your merged layers selected you should have something like this. You can now click the visible eye button next to the background layer to bring it back into the background.
Step 9:
With our now new merged layers we are going to apply a Gausian Blur. Filter/Blur/Gausian Blur. Choose something similar to what I have below for values.
Step 10:
With the same layer selected we are going to play with our levels to give it a more realistic look. Don't pay too much attention to the values I have below, but this should give you something to work with. All pictures are different when playing with levels.
Step 11:
In the end you should have something like this. Pretty easy tutorial for a nice effect.
