Just wondering if someone can give me te pros and cons of when it would be good and not good to use the

Lasso tool
polygonal Lasso tool and
magnetic lasso tool

The reason I ask is I have always used the regular lasso tool, and it seems alot of tutorials mentin using the poly. So I was just wondering if there was a reason for that or if it is a matter of prefference. thanks

I'd use the poly. Here's why, it lets you select on a point-point-point method, to give you really clean results.

I've been chopping for over a year, and Never use the regular lasso or the magnetic.

i use the poly for everything except wheel archs, you get a much cleaner result going around wheel archs with the magnetic lasso

reg. lasso - freeform selections where accuracy is not needed
poly lasso - selects using points, very accurate (hit del to undo last point)
magnetic lasso - freeform selections with minor amount of accuracy, snaps to edges

I use the poly lasso most of the time to make intricate selections with hard edges and I use the pen tool for curvy selections.
