Ok for this tutorial we are going to make a very simple abstract signiture!

Ok First open up a new document with a white background 420 by 120 or what ever you like it to be.

Next reset the colors by pressing D

Now Get the gradeint tool and go crazy in your sig

Now goto filter -> stylize -> find edges and you should get this

Now lets add some text, choose any text and put in your wording i usually use the size 30 point and the color black and you should get something like this.

Now rasterize the type

Now right click on the type and goto blending options and use the following setting:

Now you shoud get something like this:

Now merg all of those layers together by holding ctrl and clicking on each layer then pressing ctrl e

Now lets add some color, go to hue/saturation and check colorize and adjust your settings to your likeing and this is what i ended up with:

Now lets add a boarder, merge the layers together again and right click on that background layer and select make layer out of background and then go to edit stroke and and change it to 1 px and color black and you should end up with something like so:

Now open up a new document with these settings:

Zoom in as much as possible now get the pencil tool with 1px and the color black and make this pattern:

Now goto edit define as pattern and close the document

Now make a new layer and goto edit fill and select pattern from the drop down menue and pick the pattern you just made and lower the opasity to 20% and then you are done and this is the final result

You have to make sure to tell people that
when you go to edit stroke, that it has to be
set to "inside", and not center or outside.
Otherwise you might not even get a border.

Why'd your border come out "nonexistent"
on the left side?

The reason you cant see my boarder on the left side cuz thats not the real pic i just took the screen shot of that in photoshop.
