Carbon Fibre X-plained

A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THIS, SO I MADE THIS IN DEPTH....
AFTER YOU HAVE MADE YOUR PATTERN AND DEFINED IT. THIS IS WHAT YOU DO
CARBON FIBRE HOOD TUTORIAL ~CHOPSTA

1. LASSO HOOD

2. WITH THE LASSO TOOL ON, RIGHT CLICK IN SELECTION ON THE HOOD AND LAYER VIA COPY

3.HIGHLIGHT THE LAYER YOU JUS MADE

4.DESATURATE THE HOOD (CTRL+SHIFT+U)

5.MAKE THE HOOD DARK(IMAGE>ADJUST>BRIGHTNESS CONTRAST)

6.WITH THE HOOD LAYER HIGHLIGHTED, MAKE A NEW LAYER (CTRL+SHIFT+N) OR
(LAYER>NEW>LAYER)

7.WITH THE NEW LAYER HIGHLIGHTED,GO TO LAYER>NEW FILL LAYER>PATTERN. SELECT THE CARBON FIBRE PATTERN (PLAY AROUND WITH
THE OPACITY LEVELS UNTIL IT LOOKS GOOD) I SET MINE AT 21

8.YOU SHOULD HAVE 3 LAYERS RIGHT NOW..1. BACKGROUND 2. HOOD LAYER 3. THE
NEWLY MADE LAYER
9.WITH THE NEW LAYER HIGHLIGHTED, PRESS (CTRL+T) RIGHT CLICK IN THE SELECTION
AND CLICK PERSPECTIVE, PERSPECTIVE THE CF PATTERN INTO THE SAME DIRECTION AS
YOUR CAR. (IF UR CAR IS ON AN ANGLE TO THE LEFT YOUR CF PATTERN SHOULD BE GOING
LIKE THIS /, OR IF ITS TOWARDS THE RIGHT \) YOU'LL GET THE HANG OF IT

10. WHILE ON THE LAYER WITH THE CF PATTERN HIGHLIGHTED GO TO FILTER>DISTORT>TWIRL. IF DOESNT TWIRL PROPERLY, RASTERIZE THE LAYER. LAYER>RASTERIZE>LAYER

11.NOW HOLD (CTRL) AND CLICK ON THE HOOD LAYER (WHILE ON THE CF PATTERN LAYER), IT SHOULD SELECT THE HOOD IN
YOUR PICTURE, NOW PRESS (CTRL+SHIFT+I) TO INVERSE THE SELECTION (IF YOU DONT
UNDERSTAND DONT WORRY JUST FOLLOW THE INSTUCTIONS) NOW PRESS DELETE.
12.VOILA!! U SHOULD HAVE YOUR CARBON FIBRE GOODLUCK

NOTE: YOUR CARBON FIBRE WONT ALWAYS LOOKS GOOD BECAUSE ON SOME CARS, IT JUS
DOESNT LOOK GOOD WITH CARBON FIBRE SO IT MIGHT NOT BE YOUR FAULT THAT IT
DOSNTT LOOK GOOD.

UH I DIDNT PUT THAT IN THE TUT BUT ITS EASY LOOK AT ANOTHER CF TUT ON THIS SITE IT'LL SHOW U.

isnt this te exact same as teh other tut...anyways....i do my carbon differently...i noramlly have a few different layer blend modes....like this...
Hood layer=dodge (depending on light i may or may not have this layer)
Carbon fiber layer-dodge
Hood layer-darken

and then for coloured carbon...i have
Coloured hood-color
Hood-dodge (once again...depending on the light)
carbon-dodge
hood-darken

i find that i get much better results...for example...

that looks really good, two things tho
u did a very good job for being a newb
u might wanna unfibre the washer jets, or better yet shave them
and u should add some twirl to the pattern Distort>twirl maybe set it to 95

makes me fool good when i can teach someone something

thats because you had too high of a scale when you made a new fill layer...

i find that sort of happens when you zoom out to much or zoom in too much try clicking the zoom feature right clicking your chop and selecting actual pixels ;)

i got the thing to work but it says Could Not transform because the inital bounding is empty is empty
