Azzza, I've cleaned up this thread. Can you reschedule the deadlines / fix this issue, repoll?

I think we are flexible enough to fix this. Better to do it right.

This attitude is definitely gonna help us get an official contest again. I think AzZzA did a great job getting this organized. Some changes need to be made, but learn from it, don't act like children.
If you act nice you MIGHT get another poll set up, it's happened before on other battles, but I wouldn't blame AzZzA or the mods if there wasn't another one.

Kudos for the contest... and ambition. Not an official contest but doesn't mean it was a bad idea. If I wasn't such a ******** it'd be nice to an official contest run regularly AND have all kinds of member to member organized battles to go with it! That would be awesome.

In the meantime, this battle contest got off track.
It's not what bad happens that matters, it's how you deal with it! :)

Azzza, can you regroup here?

I don't want the votes screwed with on my account. I didn't think any of my replies were negative, but I see some were deleted in this mess. While I was disappointed not to be able to be part of the contest, I'm not so worried about it that I want a re-vote with my entry included. :) That being said if such a thing does happen because of others I will definitely pass over a chop.

luke jones: Things were getting off track due to the timezones being overlooked so I deleted posts that were getting mean. Timezones should have been clarified, when this was brought up, it wasn't handled properly and people rightfully got frustrated. This is always a problem with unofficial contests... plus voting by poll is not a good idea either because it allows cheating. Voting by selected committee is better.

The way I see it, we just need to extend the submissions... so Submissions still need to come in. Then this voting thread will be nulled and voting started over. no worries.

Azzza, I'm thinking extend to Mar 2., pick a time and timezone, then created a new voting thread once that deadline is met? I suggest either public vote in thread, or select a team that includes the mods/active members to be voting committee.

well if thats the case, I'll tidy up those few details that I didnt do since the voting had started, and put my entry in the submissions thread where everyone else did :)

OK. We won't avoid the problem without stating a damn TIMEZONE!!

DEADLINE IS:

March 2nd, 3:00PM EASTERN

heres my thoughts on the matter. in the past, when ive hosted polls, i would wait until the dude date had come and gone for all time zones around the world. example, with the deadline was march 2, i would wait until it was march 3 to actually post the poll.

just my $0.02

either way, timezone is posted now.

We should draft a general template for how member initiated battle contests should be rolled out. Not to be authoritative or pushy,, just strictly to help younger people or people that have not run a contest before to know what to look out for and how to set rules/criteria and set good deadlines etc.

I was actually going to work on that, for my drift battle comp I had some basic rules and guidelines, I was talking to PSD about getting it sticky'd.
