Yes im new to photoshop and i still don't know how to change the main color of a car. Do you use the lasso tool and select the whole car and then go to adjusment area and change the hue and saturation.

Yes use the polygon lasso tool and zoom in alot on your picture. Use small lines to make select curves around your car. When you've selected/deselected(windows,lights,etc.) then there's a few ways of doing color..

-you can adjust the hue/saturation like you said
-you can make a new layer and fill it with the paint bucket tool, then adjust the opacity to suit
-you can desaturate your original layer, make a new layer and use the step above
-you can experiment with all sorts of opacitys, blending options, hue/saturation, brightness/contrast(not too much though) and all sorts of fun stuff until you get the desired color

When you have the poly lasso selected there will be 4 boxes in the top menu on the left side..float your mouse over them and they'll tell you what to do.

1. New Selection
2. Add to Selection(adds additional parts to your selection..eg. if you missed something on your original selection)
3. Subtract from Selection(removes parts from your original selection...eg. select the whole car then use this one to deselect windows and lights and stuff that shouldn't be painted)
4. Intersect with Selection(not sure on this one, never used it..maybe someone else can tell you about it...)
