FIRST OFF, DOWNLOAD THIS... http://www.thewebmachine.com/photoshop/car...bon%20Fibre.pat (http://www.thewebmachine.com/photoshop/carbon_navbar/Carbon%20Fibre.pat)
Just save it to your desktop, and open it. It seems like it's not doing anything, but it'll be places in your pattern list...

Well, with this tutorial, I didn't even try to make the CF look good. I just put the pattern, mixed up the CF a bit with the waves, and did the hard light. 95% of my time was spent on how to make the tut user friendly and look good doing it...

This is the exact way i've been doing CF for a long time, around a year or so now.

CF is really hard to wrok with if its dead on straight it would probabley look like that but on an angle it gets lines in it so basicly you cant win :D

its not the realest look cf imo tho... real carbon fibre it extremly dark froma distance its checkered and at an angle parts go dark but it is allways extremely shiney! the realest cf ive seen is IAC's and chopper 621's

where exatly would you need to use the sharpen tool? In the highlights? in the shadows? on which layer (cf pattern, hard light layer, narmal hood layer)?

CF pattern layer would be where you want to use the sharpen tool on. You could also merge the image and have the hood selected and use the sharpen tool on that too.

I think you would have been better off asking the author of this
thread for the file instead of posting in an "older than dust" topic.
And Joe is still around...ask him for links.
