This is the Gremlin
it's a '77, i pulled it from a field in the middle of nowhere and swapped the siezed straight six out for an AMC 304 V8
it's getting an AMC 360 soon, just as soon as i have the money to get it machined

i took the back seat out, it's completely useless, and i've taken all the carpetting and sound-deadening materials out
it's got 2 1/2 inch dual catless exhaust with free-flow cherry bombs, straight back, as well as all the emmisions crap taken off the motor

this photo was actually taken a while ago, i've been doing some bodywork and having some fun with the paint since then

here's the motor as it sits now

i had to wire in a condensor for the spark, because the ignition module is made for an electronic distributor, but i had to put a mechanical in to save money
that's what those two grey wires going off to the side of the firewall are for

please post your comments, i'm sure they'll be colorful :P

I have never really been a fan of Gremlins, but I will say that is kinda cool. I'm glad your modding more than just the exterior. I havn't quite heard anything about an AMC 360 engine, so I'm not sure what kind of power it has. Sounds like it will be pretty good. Good choice in exhuast size, i'm sure it'll rumble.

The best gremlin i've seen sits around here in the summer. It looks the same, but with a giant blower stickout out of the hood, and a sweet blue paint scheme, almost looks 2 tone.

Keep at it, update some photos, and clean that damn engine... B)

Yaeh, should look cool with some paint and bodywork :D
I think you should pay better attention with the engine bay..
Some advice can be found here (http://public.fotki.com/t0tal/opels/kitti/dscf0010.html)

gee thanks ;)

truth is i don't care what the motor looks like, it's not staying there for very long, and it's next to impossibe to keep hot metal from surface rusting anyways, especially those cast iron manifolds
it looks a hell of a lot better than when i first got it, i'll tell ya that ;)
modern motors have plastic or polished/coated/anodized aluminum covers over a lot of the stuff you can see from the top, which is a lot easier to clean

thanks for the comments

Omicron: the 360 was one of AMC's 2 mid-range V8s (the other being the earlier 343), the most power it produced from the factory was 245 with a ram air induction, but it's been used as a race motor in various cars over the years, producing upwards of 450-500 horsepower unsupercharged
it's also a grunt happy beast, making close to 375 lbs of torque from the factory, and allowing enthusiasts to only increase that number
even my little 304 V8 is running 215 horsepower and nearly 300 lbs of torque, stock
AMC made great motors for their cars
that blue Gremlin you're talking about probably has Chebbie power if it's got a supercharger up through the hood, which is never good
would you stick a Suzuki .3 litre in an Accord? I wouldn't think so, it's just stupid

thanks again though
