My first attempt at full body brushing. I've never painted anything like this before, real or digital. No art classes, no specific tutorials, just figuring it out by observation of other's painted or brushed car images. Inserted car was there for my reference only in trying to mimic the original highlights while teaching myself how to paint.
Base mask created with paintbrush tool, shown with first layer of highlight coloring using airbrush tool. http://s25.postimg.org/ido6172of/che...ng_sample1.jpg Progression as I added layers of coloring for depth http://s25.postimg.org/q7ormlahb/che...ng_sample3.jpg Further refined lines with slight mod to lower front. http://s25.postimg.org/ee3zlnv4f/che...ng_sample6.jpg Thanks for looking. C&C welcomed before next step; different tire/wheels and background. |
Lines look clean, color has a nice saturation to it. Great work.
You should try out brushing bodykits :D |
Thanks, Martin-. That's coming as needed, I'm more interested in alternative production models rather than aftermarket bodykit mod type things. This was for teaching myself another method beyond my current works and should make some things easier to edit or produce overall with a combination of both.

Nicely done :)

WOW that looks really good, that must have took a long time. Good Job

Update
Overall coloring darkened to reduce the "glowing lime" appearance. More refinements and small details were added... Almost done.

I liked the "glowing lime" appearance. It was very vibrant.

Thanks guys, I think I got more time staring at this one trying to figure out what to do next than the time actually spent doing it. It was commented on another site that the colors be toned down a bit so I just darkened the specific layers by a certain relative percentage. I got a few more final details to do on this before moving on to another more challenging edit.
Any suggestions for improving this image would be greatly appreciated. ;) |
The shadows on the tops of the tires might be a little dark if compared to the original. Next step is to create and brush your own car from scratch.

Next step.. I'll probably do another one or two profiles of far more interesting cars with body mods the way I'd like to see them and likely including creating the tire/wheels, lights and windows... Then I'll tackle 3/4 views. ;) |
Very well done..

A few final touches, this is about as close to looking realistic as I can get it at this point.
