illu's Corvette Project

I started this project back in September, this was originally a model kit build, normal corvette into wide body.

then I went out and took a few pictures of the same corvette, and rendered it like the kit build.

This is how the model kit will look like when it is finished, it will be metallic black with clear red.

the kit is almost finished, just some minor touchups and its off to paint :)
i will post pics when kit is finished :)

oh and i made the render today, not in september :P

edit: *links fixed*!

Nice rendering there!!

But what is the kit for?? I mean for race or something..because it doesnt look too aerodynamic to me..or may be I am wrong..

But you could have given the car some smoother looks..
Why did you choose to give sharp edges??

You know your slowly turning into one of the my favorite members talent wise. Awesome job.

Carty 01-26-2007 01:19 PM

it looks really good, but if this were an actual car, I would imagine that the widebody behind the door would act like a parachute and slow the car down.. no?

PSDavinci 01-26-2007 04:28 PM

Man you can crank these things out bro!
I like it but have to kid you a bit about those micro mirrors.
The only thing you would see in those is a whole lotta vent!

illusionest 01-26-2007 04:40 PM

those mirrors arent really that small, they will be original size, not changing them.

And about the murcie wheels, the aftermarket rims I'm going to use are very similar to lambo wheels.

this wasnt meant to be a racer, probably something at a show.

thanks guys

dude, looks very good. i think the front looks kinda like a toon but thats rendering. oh, and i agree with it acting like a parachute. it looks sweet though.

JXDesigns 01-28-2007 07:16 PM

IMHO i think the front splitter is too big (length wise) bhut other thta that looks great!

.:ace:. 01-29-2007 03:46 AM

i would consider adapting the rear end so it flows with the rest of the car!

but amazing work!

I thought just the matte black looked pretty sweet myself, that's an awesome color. But thinking about all this model stuff, I think I might just have to build my own model as well. Building my dream mustang would be sweet to make a model of first. What type of paint/technique did you use for that black before the pearl?

illusionest 02-27-2007 11:01 PM

it wasnt matte black, it was metallic black, but because i took the pics in my studio, you cant see the reflections.

actually, in the first and last pic (of the second last pic post) you can see the reflection of the top half on the fenders.

joemomma95 02-28-2007 01:01 AM

Turning out sweet, look foward to the updates!

Alright then, my mistake. But do you have an answer to the question posted along with my comment? :D

illusionest 02-28-2007 05:55 PM

i use all spray cans, because airbrush is too expensive, and too much work. For airbrush you need that air compressor thing, the gun, etc etc, and the cleaning equipment. Tamiya cans are easy to use too.
