It's been too long: 240Z

It's been forever, and I started a new project. Hopefully I can finish this one, it'll be a challenge. Full rebrush/restoration, the very first time. Some c/p involved. This is the very early stage and I'm taking my time to get it down properly. C&C as always.

I love the Old-School + New school JDM.

I'm gonna keep messing with the driver's side, it's a little frustrating. It's 3am here so I'm just gonna watch Chris Rock.

Well, I think I am finished. Soon enough, I will be posting it in the "Auto Chops" section. Thank you all who have given me feedback. (NOT Wildman :p haha). It was a big project and seemed daunting at first but just pick the brush up and get to it! :D

Nice one. A lot of work to do, cant wait to see it finished.

Mike Minnillo 12-20-2007 01:39 AM

looks sweet. what has been brushed so far? for the love of god, keep the retro look of the car!

Moncef 12-20-2007 01:40 AM

Thanks Mike,

the hatch was from a rebrushed donor. The hood and hatch have been brushed and so has the glass.

Get on AIM.

Edit: More comments? Wildman, Carty, where'd you bastards go? :p

.:ace:. 12-20-2007 07:43 PM

rite. im liking the ideas its a very simple looking kit. i know its your first rebrush n all that but i think the rear need some shaping to it?

but its a nice simple design to get your teeth into. id like to see this one finished.

Moncef 12-20-2007 07:45 PM

Thanks Ace. Yes it is, and I am doing a little bit of work to the rear, my aim was an Origin-style body kit. I like simplicity and this is my first one.

Cheers!

looking good ,thats a skill to get all that right.
look forward to seeing it.how many hours goes into a car like that??

Moncef 12-20-2007 08:13 PM

Thanks.

I couldn't tell you. That was probably ~2.5hrs including ideas, donoring, and design. I don't count hours, I count days :). Perhaps another update will go up later tonight.

is the perspective of your outline done by eye ? if u get what i mean?

Moncef 12-20-2007 08:36 PM

I did it mostly by eye, except for the front fender which i c/p'd from a similar donor and then outlined.

Edit: UPDATE (top post)! I'm not too sure about the taillights, if anyone could give me some pointers, that'd be appreciated :D
Edit 2: Second update for tonight!

Moncef 12-21-2007 03:01 PM

lol thanks guys, it's coming along nicely. I'm redoing the lighting on the fenders and continuing the bodywork. Yea, I dig those R34 Skyline tails they look really sexy on this car. Keep the comments coming, and I'll keep the updates coming! ;)

WildmanProductions 12-21-2007 08:07 PM

Moncef 12-22-2007 12:43 PM

Update

Reckoner 12-22-2007 01:25 PM

It's looking spot on!:D

GimpChoppa 12-22-2007 09:11 PM

Its probably just me but those wheels look a little out? Either slightly of angle or not in under the gaurds enough or something,I cant quite pinpoint it. Oh and thanks for your opinions moncef .

Moncef 12-22-2007 09:23 PM

Well, both were done on purpose. "Off angle" is the negative camber, which is used on drift cars. The not being under the fenders enough is because of preference as well. Having proper wheel fitment means having the tire/wheel flush with the fenders, not sunken or poking ;). No problem by the way. Your work shows promise.

Thanks, I've made a bit of progress, an update will be going up soon!

GimpChoppa 12-22-2007 11:08 PM

I wasnt talking bout the camber thats fine, I thought the back wheel looked a bit turned in, like 4 wheel steering imo, thats all.

Moncef 12-23-2007 12:38 AM

Ahh okay. Hmm I don't seem to notice that, but thanks for pointing it out. I might be tweaking the wheels after brushing is complete.
