What version of Solidworks are you using? I will try and put together a simple "cube" tutorial. I just want to be sure that I am going to be using the same operations as you.

Look for it later tonight. I will start it in a little while.

Alright, here you go.

http://img46.exs.cx/img46/4135/cube7kb.gif

1) Click New. When the next window opens, click part.
2) Click on the plane you wish to work on. For this tutorial, I clicked the Front Plane.
3) Click the Icon next to the arrows that look like a plus. From the next screen, click the normal to button.
4) Click the line button.
5) Draw a simple shape. For this tutorial, I drew a rectangle.
6 Click the dimension button, and dimension your part. This is where drafting skills come in handy.
7) After you are done dimensioning, hit escape.
8) Click on the new sketch you have created in the window on the left.
9) Click the extrude button.
10) Type in a value for the length of the extrusion you desire.

This is a very quick tutorial, but I hope it helps a little bit. It took me a while to learn the software too so don't give up. If you have any questions, just ask me. I will try and help you out.

Good Luck!!

hi I need help on setting up a blueprint.

nasTone 03-06-2005 04:31 PM

Can't do that in Solidworks. Here is a link to a lot of tutorials showing how to do it in other applications.
