Been a while since I last chopped, I decided to to a diffrent approach and utilized the gradient tool in my tooning and this was the final result.

thats lookin pretty nice! good work :D did you just use the magic wand then color it a shade of red in the selected area?

I would use the poly lasso, select an area that blended well, selected the brightest and the darkest, then used the gradient tool to try to match the real fade effect thingy.
