Door Lines

I'm not quite sure if this has been answered here and the tutorials I've tried to use arn't detailed enough.

I need to know how to do the door lines. Specifically if I make a wide body kit and have to redraw the door lines. I have ideas for it but am still unsure. Thanks

I've used the pen tool and bent it to the desired shape, then used the "stroke path" option before.. wasn't exactly perfect, but alot faster than doing it by hand

Oh, you can stroke a pen line? Actually if you can do that and then use blends and a white drop shadow that might look pretty damn good.

Thanks dood.

yeah you can stroke 'em.. just make your path, then go to the paths tab and right click, then select stroke path.. and whala!

make your path with the pen tool, then set the brush to a size 2 or 3 feathered round tip, that works the best for me, than stroke it at around 40% (keep stroking until its what you want) then stroke right next to it with a size 1 feathered round brush tip at 15% over and over until you get a good highlight

Cool Carty.. thanks!

no prob man

you can also stroke it first with the 40% black, and then stroke over it with 40% the color of the car, that sometimes works when the door line isnt very visible

Sorry rick, I gotta disagree with never using the line tool, I've used it since the beginning and still use it every now and then....I might be old school but I do see some places where it still can be used...

rickysals 07-21-2006 06:07 PM

I just use the pen tool for anything I would use the line tool for.

Photoshop is the program in the Adobe suite where the line tool is even semi-useful... which is why I've quit using it altogether
