No straight lines! Use the pen tool, bro. If you have to use the line tool, use shorter lines. You gotta get a feel for it. There are so many options in PS that you almost never need to freehand. The only time I do that is to anti-alias (smooth) a line at pixel level with the smudge tool. Also, make sure that you've got anti-aliasing turned on with the line tool so you don't get that jagged digital look.
