So this is something a bit different, and it's actually my first time tooning a human. This is my progress so far. I'm using Adobe Illustrator, what a program!! It's amazing!

i've just started dabbling with ill. pretty good tool. reccomend any good tut sites apart from tutorialize?

i know once you'v mastered the pen tooland anchor points its supposed to be a walk in the park.

In all honestly, Illustrator is a walk in the park once you understand how the tools are used.
The pentool isn't hard to use in Illustrator. Just like you would with a pencil, you'd trace around objects like the hair, lips, eyes etc. That's the key when it comes to vectoring using this program, your tracing small objects to make a big objects. Like the lips would be small colored shapes which in turn would create a set of very detailed lips. That's another thing, how much detail do you want to put into your work. For this piece I'm going to add lights and darks on to the base colors. I'm not going to worry about midtones, and dodging and burning. Being my first time, I'd like to keep it simple.
