Default New Sections

A few members have requested a section for new choppers or quick chops so that less confusion is made between the more advanced and those who are new to v-modding, this will also then hopefully irradicate the slightly feminine *****yness we have goign on (no offense suzq) thoughts?

where do you draw the line between the two types, and how many people are you going to offend with telling them that they have to post their chops in the 'noob' section? If it works it would be a great idea.

very good point... how about everyone posts in auto chops and then over time ppl get promoted to advanced based on popularity and the mods. if this method is used it should also be that a single awesome chop does not make you "advanced" but rather consistent work over time.

however, i personally dont like seperations... on another forum i was on that had seperations, my post count was down when they moved the forum and i was inactive for a bit, anyways i posted a chop in the regular section that was better than the majority of other chops... but a mod still told me that it should be in the novice section because of my post count!.... so we got in an argument and i left that forum lol

so if seperate sections are implemented it should be controlled very carefully as to not lose any members.

another idea is to leave it as it is an continue to educate the users and try to teach them that a chop done in an hour or two is nto as good as they think. and also to know that everything they do will not be good (this applies to everyone) i have had failures and i knew they failed so i just never posted them.

Regardless of how you seperate skill levels or classify how advanced one member may be, we shouldnt be judging members and thats whats going to end up happening.

Sorry but that's just my $0.2

I dont think there should be a section for "noobs" because even though someone can be a noob, they can still have alot of experience with photoshop or chopping. I think we can have a separarte section for quick chops. For example, where if you work on a chop for less than 2 hours, post it in the quick chops section. If it goes longer then post in the normal section. I dont think anyone would have the need to lie about how long they work on a chop, right? So i think it would work.

reading the above opinions im starting to wonder on this myself you know....(talk about a back track lmao)

maybe thats one of the things that has made us become addicted to psc....(meaning we should really get out more)

But perhaps the fact we all post in 1 section means were viewed as equals and unlike another un-named site its more inviting?

yup thats why i like psc

mglavina: you are right that is a very good point, no one should be judged (unless in a comp )

maybe the best solution is to raise the level of everyone in the forum through education- better and up to date tutorials and articles.
i have some ideas for an article about how to achieved desired effects through understanding of objects. and maybe i can do a tooning tutorial.

This has been a standing issue here since inception.
I have to admit there are times that I have been guilty of suggesting we segregate and establish an advanced section. My frustration doesnt stem from the fact that we tend to have an overwhelming amount of noob or beginners and the majority of chops tend to be on that level. No, I was a noob once, we all were and I actually enjoy helping people learn and see them develop their skills and improve their chops. That is the great thing about this site, we are all one big family and thus we dont promote or support egotism. My concern tho is the fact that we tend to have a hard time keeping advanced choppers here. Ive seen so many come and go during my time, and whether we want to admit it or not, we do need to be able to supply something to retain a fair amount of advanced skilled people here. Several of us are making efforts to keep PSC true to its roots but make some necessary improvements to keep this thing alive and moving forward. I hope its not falling on deaf ears.

I will say i agree davinci to some level yes we do get some advanced members come and go but in my personel opinion those that leave are probably to big headed for there own good, its kinda like they come show off and then go as if to say u wish u were as good as i am. those who are very advanced (a good example being peppus) have come and have stayed even if they dont post as often as some of us,
