Web Hosting - very basic question
ok, now im lookin at starting a website, its gonna be based around music (metal and alternative stuff) and im not sure where a good place for free web hosting would be. i need somewhere where i will have complete creative control, meaning NO templates or anything like that, i want to be able to design it completely how i want, thats the main thing that is makin it hard for me to find a good hosting place.
last time i made a site (which was like 2 years ago), i used that Yahoo Pagebuilder, and i started using this time because i didnt know where else to go, and its stuffin up so i want to try somewhere else.
so can people please tell me what sites give you free hosting without having to use a template or anything like that?
and im not exactly a computer genious so im not familiar with more complicated HTML editing or anythin like that either.

These are a couple.but only have web based ftp access.
http://www.freespaces.com unlimited disk, unlimited transfer, (but at the start limited to 5gb I think)But you just request more space and transfer and they give it to you. 8mb upload file size limit.this is who Im building a page with.uploading your page is quick and simple as well.
http://www.tekcities.com 5gb disk space, 10gb transfer (i think) I also think they have 4mb or 8mb file size limit.
anyway V8 king I hope these help.

Freewebspace doesn't allow you to make your own template if you want a good website you can go here
http://xero-tech.net/forums/index.php?
And you can install a PHPBB2 or SMF forum in your sites control panel in two seconds!

i didnt originally want to use a free one, and i still dont want to. but you have no idea how tight my parents are and they will not let me spend my money on "internet crap" as they called it.
i was gonna start it out as a free one and see how it goes, then if it all went well and ends up bein worth it, i will eventually switch to a paid one.

For the most part, that is VERY true.
HOWEVER,
look at www.x10hosting.com
I use them to host my website. (I have a pay-plan, though, because I don't like ads)
There's one plan that requires no ads whatsoever on your page. The other two plans require either a text link, or a banner ad.
I HIGHLY recommend it. LOTS of space. (for free)

I don't trust any host that has pages indicating "UNDER CONSTRUCTION". I'm guessing that their webspace and bandwidth is oversold. I would also not trust that there is effective or efficient support or that the servers are monitored for spikes or other reliability issues. I would also doubt that they have the latest cpanel/php/mysql installs configurtations or patches and updates. You would also want to create your own backups because I highly doubt that they can afford nightly backups for free offerings like this.
Anyway, FREE hosting serves a purpose and gets people introduced or started to their web development projects but I would highly suggest paid hosting. For $8 a month or so, you can get a fully featured plan at a reliable and reputable web host.

Fine, trust it or not, but myself, Skyline4Life, and many other PSC members use it.
