Why don't you back up any important data files, and just reformat your hard drive. If you have Windows XP, remember to use the NTSC setup and not the FAT32. When you run a FAT32 format with XP a lot of errors will occur. Remember also to defragment your hard drive every so often. Probably once to twice a week, or after every 3 or 4 program installations. It will help ensure your computer will run smoothly.

If you are running windows 2000, ME, or 98, I'm sure fat32 wouldn't hurt.

A last resort could be having daddy get you a temporary replacement labtop why yours gets worked on by a trained professional.
