Submitting concepts to car companies
I was just sitting on the couch watching hunting and it just popped into my head. I was wondering if anyone knows if big car companies like Ford Dodge or Chevy ever take pictures from any of us photochoppers of concepts that we would like to see made a reality. I made a small dodge sport truck based on a dodge magnum last year and id like to send it to dodge. Im sure they wouldnt do anything with it but do they ever take pictures like that or do they get all their new car ideas in house just within the company?

Probably do bollocks all with it, but at the same time you never know. Its certainly better than any of their in-house photoshopping.

they might look at it but if they do anything about it who knows.
as matt said dont know unless you try.
altho they would probably be more looking for 3D renderings and views of the front sides and rear but i dont know.

It would be really good if they did take peoples' ideas into mind because I'd love to send Ford my idea for the mk4 Capri

I tried one time with Scion, made a front, side, rear, and 3/4 top view like the one above. Emailed them my idea, and they told me that they don't like to use ideas from outside people, they would rather pay their design team to make the ideas to put them into production.
Fine with me, but if I ever see a commercial saying we want your ideas, I'll give them a piece of my mind, and it won't be an idea for an upcoming car.

This is on a little bit of a tangent, but I submitted an idea to Mattel for a Hot Wheels car. They emailed me back and told me that they will not even look at things from 'the outside'.

I think it is ridiculous that these places wont even consider anything from the outside. I mean, whats better to get your ideas from then the people who are going to be buying it?

Shut up.
You will drive what we tell you to.
You will like the style of car we tell you to.
You will not complain when we bastardise good car names just for profit.
In short. Be a sheep. Like we tell you to be :P

PAS mag has given us a bit of an opportunity, maybe if we uploaded more pics to their site? It might be a way to get more recognition for PSC, and it might even lead to bigger things.
@DarkPhantom29, I'm loving the sig.

With copyright stuff dont you have to get it legally copyrighted or is something you made just automatically copyrighted to you?

If you made it its yours(automatically copyrighted), however it has to be yours(no stolen parts) and the fact that you are using someone elses image to chop in the first place is kind of infringement there, unless you change like 80% of it or something like that. Or full brush your concepts
Thats just my understanding on the subject.
It can be done, but your probably better off aiming at people that dont have there own car design team... An example...Jack Darton(some of you might know him) has done work for Oakley. He designed an Oakley ferrari for them, and I'm pretty sure its for production. He has quite a few clients and he has got most of them by sending them his work.
So its worth a try... whats the worst that could happen? You could be told to p**s off, but that dont hurt much, does it?

So that means I could actually send Ford my idea for a new Capri, considering I came up with the whole design myself
But then, as you said Gimp, as Ford have their own design time it's unlikely that they'd look at it...

Just because they have their own design team, doesn't mean its any good. Anthing made by Kia being a case in point.

Cerato Koup?
I hate Kias as well but that does actually look quite good. Too bad it drives like a bag of s***.
