When changing a cars color how do you selct the car only?

you have to use the lasso tool to outline it

And make sure you zoom in alot when your selecting so as to get a tight selection around the parts that you want selected. I use the polygon tool to do my selecting, zoomed waaaaayyyyy in to get a good selection. But I also don't have Photoshop, or a lasso tool, so I don't know how that works...
