conversion program

does anyone know of a program that converts movie files into .m4v format? that's the format that a video has to be in for the ipod video, and the only program that i've found that does it is quicktime pro. i have qt pro, but the conversion process of any large file takes forever! i started converting a 30 min. video (127 mb) yesterday at 3:00 pm, and by 7:00 am this morning, it was only 41% done. frustrating, right?

so if anyone knows of a program that can convert videos to .m4v (not .mp4), let me know please.
