Default How about..

I know we have the 'CHOPHOP' but how about a Donor store for members only? each member on here could share their donors which they have with the members of the forum. It may also encourage others to join?

Just an idea

Ben

cool idea... it kinda like what ps-garage got but the just got a password protected forum for a vault of stock cars and car news but it would be cool then we all can share our resources .. so what you think mondala?

I've experimented with the stock photo idea at www.autowalls.com but the disk space needed is huge and maintenance/upkeep is high.

We could host something externally like some members have done for themselves... but you lose the glam/control of it being an in-house project. If I can allocate server cpu/disk space to such a project the other obstacle would be maintaining the archive which means user contributed photos with some assigned moderators to remove crap. (images that are too small/wrong category/spam/etc)

Anyway, give me some more examples or explanations of what you think would be handy. We could redo the chopshop and make it member controlled and moderated... right now it is out of date and not extremely useful.

Well like Twinks said, if it was password protected and had mods (I'll offer my time, as i am on here most hours of the day if it goes ahead.) and we could have a minimum resolution of images (800x600 or 1024x768) The mods of the forum/chop shop could also assign the images to certain categories. Or when a member reaches a certain post level i.e: 50-60 then they get automatic access to the donor/chopshop.

Hey, how about an "outline" bank. People who have lined out a car but couldnt be bothered in brushing it or lost interest, could put up their outlines. Then people who want to practice brushing have outlined cars ready to go. The people posting the lines would probably like to see thier ideas finished, and the people using them might not have the skill or creativity to design a car( or couldn't be bothered). Everyone benifits

Hold up... Iv got an idea for that... I think there should be an unwanted w.i.p section maybe called the "scrap yard" ... where people can post their unwanted w.i.p's and to post chops they dont wanna bother finishing ... for example ..Like me I search donors everywhere when I get the ones I want I just rebrush it so if I were not to finish it but post up the orig and the unfinished chop... example below ... BUT.. there will be problems... main problem would be spam...

Yeah that'd be awesome might be a bit to much space for the server but you know we have the "How To" Forum category, we could always rename that "Donors, Help and Requests" and have some moderators to keep everything in top form (I.e: Remove Spam, make sure topics are in the right forum and so on.)

I would say Check out Ultimatecarpage.com > Forums > Multimedia; in their multimedia section, they have high res photos of just about any car you can think of.. almost. The trick is, they have them all under attachments, so you have to be a member to see them, or it's just a list of the photos on each post.

Thats a similar idea to what i as thinking, in order to gain access to the donors, stock pictures and so on they need to register. Which could bring more traffic + members to the site.

Some great ideas being tossed around here.
Im really excited about the possibilities.
We have a nice core of active members now with a good variety of skill level.
I really like Gimps banner idea.
Mondala can you throw up a screen shot of the home page your intending to go with to give us an idea of the layout?
Also does it support flash?
We really need the homepage to be super polished.
I would really like to see our tute section improved and be comprised of all our own stuff.

Yeah i think if we all can chip in and create tuts for beginners to intermediate users then i think we could get more of a name for having varied tutorials based upon skill level. I mean i dont mind chipping in myself with some tuts.
