Default Can't connect to the internet

Hey some of you know my desktop crashed. So I reintsalled windows and I can't connect even to my hardwire straight to the router wtf is goin on and it whont let me set it up so I can any help would be greath thanks

Well, lets get some of this stuff straightened out so we have a clear idea of what's going on. How is your system set up, how does the data flow throughout the network? Does any other computer work with the same way that you are trying to connect?

My guess based on what you're say is the flow goes like this...

(INTERNET~~~~~~Cable/DSL modem~~~~~~Wireless capable Router) Then from there you probably have a few computers either wired to it or connecting via wireless.

If the other computers still work, rule out the chances of the router being the problem. You have Vista now don't ya?

No just xp and carty I'm on my laptop der
I have mine hardwired right to the router which is connected to the wall. It used to work that way but since the crash it whont work for me

maybe you have some sort of default firewall that is now turned on... or maybe you need some software in order to use that router

sounds like you don't have your ethernet adapter installed for your comp.

ethernet adapter is that the thing your plug the cable into the back of the computer with?

The ethernet adapter is the adapter the company gives you, from which you plug the internet cable from that, to your computer (if that makes any sense at all).

the only way i get high speed internet is with a usb reciever and a strainer from the kitchen to use as a sattelite dish that needs to be aimed at a certain angle. lol
