I know the title doesnt sound like its an "advanced question" but Ive just spent 2 hrs on diesel station, highresautoimages.com, and have done several searches for hi-res suitable backgrounds. Its becoming a REAL problem for me lately, and especialy with wheels. Ive got 2 unfinished chops that i cant find suitable backgrounds for. I want to know where people are getting exeptional backdrops (Im talking RUIG and RICKY SALS quality) they seem to find perfect backdrops of really cool settings and im having the hardest time. So if those guys could help me out that'd be AWSOME!!!! and if anyone else knows please chime in!

Here is a peak at my latest work, the backdrop is cool. but i want to change it. and ive been stuck for DAAAAAAYYYYYYYS.

Check out some photography websites. Some people at deviantart have posted some pretty good pictures.

Other than that, just continue with image search, alltheweb.com image search, and the regular places like highresautoimages.com and dieselstation.com.

When doing your searches, check for high res wallpapers, and road photography, track, or race photography, or just whatever your looking for. There's many tricks to finding what you need, you just have to know what to search for.

Check out some of these too...

http://www.brisbanemotorshow.com.au/media/...res_archive.htm
(brisbanmotorshow has very low number of images you can get to)

Have fun, hope this helped ya in some way.

well... if all you're looking at is the top of the car, then there's half your problem,

u need the whole camera angle. the ground is very important.

I get all my backgrounds from the sites u mentioned. Press photos released with other cars already tin them. I simply cover the old car with my new one, and brush the background where needed to look real.

Umm...

here is my recent Lexus
http://www.rickysalsdesigns.com/projects/lexus.htm

the original is on the page too...

here is the link to the background i used.

http://www.rickysalsdesigns.com/projects/lexus.htm

most people wouldn't think to use that background... but it was a prety easy swap, and looks good IMO.

i can link to almost all backdrops i use, lol... look around.
be creative.

Sorry dude, but the link to the "background" you used is the same link as the picture of the chop. You may want to retry that and put in the right link. :P

i get where your coming from ricky. thanks for the input. i know the ground angle is important, i was just showing the top of the truck because i didnt want to reveal the mods i did to it yet. but you brought up a great idea, pasting over other cars. hmmm. may need to do that. thanks again!

Hello.

I just saw this thread...sorry that I am late.

If you people join www.dp-studio.com (forum, all languages welcome and only for registered members- tutorials section in a post-it) there are some special chopped ones available as well as a 16 mb folder to download. I'll be adding some more in 2005.

Have fun.

There really is no actual 'secret' on how to find cool looking backgrounds. Press sites I will say are the best to have access to, the amount of backgrounds there are plentyful but not always useable. Most production cars are not photographed at unique locations, unless the car is an exotic, ferrari, lambo and so on. Most good backgrounds are usually found alongside concept cars, which are usually photographed at unique and obscure locations. The shelby GR-1 concept is a good example of this.

http://www.autogaleria.pl/tapety/

Auto Galeria has great pictures for backgrounds, I won't point out any specifics but they are there.

www.auto.cz also has some good if not great BG's, granted if you can't read czech it may not be easy to see where the wallpapers are exactly. But I will do the work for you on this one:

http://www.auto.cz/?rubrika=16

http://www.desktopmachine.com/ Also another good site fro BGs. It doesn't have all the pictures when they are released but it has quite a lot that I have seen on press sites and not where else. It's a bit slow for me, but I am not sure why

But there are also other methods for good BGs, mix and match parts of certian BGs to others, like a chop, sometimes it works out for the best. And remeber just because the doner original is angled in a different way than your chop, don't mean you can use it. Anyways, I won't give out too many other ideas, there are enough in this page already.
