well obviously this is a tutorial for led lights... i decided to make it because i was bored, and the other one didnt look so good... by the way this is my first tut so dont be too harsh
for this tutorial, i chose an s2000 head light....
1. the first step is to select the entire head light that will have led lights inside and fill in black... easy right?
2. now... select the brush tool (B) and go up to the brushes menu... the size may vary depending on how big your picture is... for this picture i chose a 9 pixel feathered edge brush... go up to file>new the... size of the new file doesnt matter but the resolution should be arround the same... go edit>fill>black in the new file... now to begin... creat a new layer in your new file... while on this layer place a black dot at the brush size you selected earlier... now press and hold ctrl & j... this creates a copy of the dot you just made... press the right arrow key untill they two dots are placed at a good looking space... for this picture i pressed it 8 times.... continue doing this, until there are enough dots to fill one side of the light to the other side.... when this is done... go up to layer>flatten Image... select all the dots using the rectangular marquee tool (m) and drag it over back to the light.... it should now look something like this
3. now rotate and skew the alignment of the dots into the position you want them to be in... after you have the first row done.. press and hold ctrl & j again to make a copy of the row of dots... place this row where you see fit.... (the alignment and shapes of lights are different with every car... also take note that when placing it into the light delete extra black corners etc... that are visible arround the edges of the light) it should now look something like this
4. the next step is creating another layer.... then select the eyedrop tool (i) and selecting the color you want your lghts to be on the color tab or on the swatches tab.... in this tutorial i selected a turquise color... now... you want to select a brush that is bigger in circumfrence than the white dots... but not a lot bigger... if you recall i used the 9 pixel feathered edge brush for the white lights... for the turquise colored brush, i selected a 17 pixel feathered edge brush in the brush menu... now hold shift, left click, and drag your mouse to the left/right (depending on wut side you clicked on) untill the colored line is about the width of the light you are using.... like this
5. now place the colored line over one of the rows of lights... you will also have to skew/rotate etc for the line to completely cover the dots.... try to get it as even as possible... set the opacity to about 40%... you can adjust this as u please... after you do this, you will notice that the lights look dimmer because of the layer over it... you will either have to select the eraser brush that was the size of the white dots and erase the parts where the line is covering... you can also use the wand tool but i find this easiest... it should looks something like this
6. repeat step 5 with the other rows of white lights
7. now create another layer... select a big brush with a featherd edge... i chose a 65 pixel brush and color over the lights... going arround the edge of the lights using the color you selected before... make sure to make it look even though, like this
bring the opacity down... (this varies with every car and setting but the opacity should be arround 20%)
8. this part is hard to explain because it varies with every car and setting, but first you need to creat yet another layer.... afterwards, select the whole light.... now deselect the bottom part of the light that you think would have the least ammount of shine.... fill the remaining selected part white... this should give you an example of how to select what part of the light...
9. now select a large eraser with a feathered edge and erase part of the white light at the top so it fades... i chose the 100 pixel eraser... it should look like this
10. now adjust the opacity to about 50%... this also can be adjusted to how u like it
11. the final step to making led lights is to create another layer.... with the polygon lasso tool, select the inside of the corners of the lights... fill your selected area with white... deselect... ctrl & d ..... now blur the white so it looks smoother... finally adjust the opacity to about 80%
obviously you will want to take the shine of the previouse light off the front bumper but this isnt a tutorial on how to remove light.... but im just reminding you not to forget when adding leds
GJ YOUR DONE CREATING A BASIC LED LIGHT!
