I am trying to broaden my horizons in different types of art, so drew this yesterday and scanned it in. I didn't bring in any pics for it, other than the one I drew, just wanted to see what you guys think of it.

looks kinda spongebobish. it looks pretty cool. if i tried to color a drawing i did it would be all flat and crappy.

Nice drawing.
As for the colored version, to me it should only be the very initial stages of a final piece of artwork. Try adding textures and aggressive color blending to increase the realism. Also the bubbles or orbs could vastly be improved with just a little work. For example something like these below.
I urge you to keep going on this bro. With just a little more work you could really transform this into an awesome piece.

ok, thanks I will keep going on it, i am hoping to have something like this to submit with my portfolio to get into college.
