Plz Help PIZZA logo

Helping a mate design a logo for his pizza shop and my mind is blank anyone got any ideas or wanna post something up. There is no strict theme or anything.

The shop is called "Chequers Pizza"

this is all i could come up with and im not happy with it

that looks pretty nifty. Looks better with the stroke imo. What does it look like without the shadow?

i showed him and he liked it but he wants one of those logo's that dont have text in them that you automatically recognise. he is a pain but they make an excellent aussie pizza.
