Yeah. Drawing well means to draw what you see... I read something about that a few days ago.
As you all know you have 2 brain "parts". A left, and a right site. You draw with you right site! But there is one problem... Your left site "thinks" in symbols. So If you try to draw a nose, you'll draw something, which remembers you of a nose but doesnt really look like one... try to turn the paper around... so you cant compare what youre drawing with something you saw somewhere,...
I have no time now, I'll tell you what I meant properly some day :P

It's "Canson" Bristol board, we have a choice of smooth or vellum finish. Vellum finish has a bit more texture than the smooth, you can get richer darks on it.
I used a clutch pencil... not a wooden pencil. So different leads is a quickie change
The darkest lead i use on my drawings is 4B. I use alot of HB for the midrange darks, because you build up layers. \
I guess the best advice i can give would be to build up layers of crosshatching. That's what improved throughout the smemster, was my layering. The more layers u can use, the more smooth and realistic it can appear. Attention to detail also, every square inch of the picture gets the same meticulous attention... even the dark background. To filll in the dark background, took an hour and a half becaude of layers and smoothing...I DO NOT SMUDGE...it's kind of blah looking, and u can do it with layers of harder lead. I really like using the harder leads and building them up to midrange colors, like the car color. (Actually a pink cadillac)

I like the smoother B pencils best! Thats just that what my experience until now says...

a lead holder... it holds thicker pieces of lead than a standard mechanical pencil.

god damn rick...thats fricken insane...im into drawing ((and i guess im decent for 13 years old))...but i could never do anything lyk that?...so are u naturally a drawer and just enhanced with schooling or is this all on ur own? thats awesome...u should post a full size pic somehow...

mostly natural. this was for class, where i improved shading a little bit, but mostly just natural. Maybe why I don't see it as a very big deal... it's normal to me, others seem to think highly of it, so guess it's something special? :blink: I need to work on my drawing alot though, im gonna teach myself some concept drawing very soon, startin this week, so stay tuned
