.: PSC generations.:.
what about this.
i was thinking the other day who to challenge to a battle oon here and then just gave up because people i was thinking of either didnt chop anymore or were not up to standard.
how about PSC generations or grades. like this.
A* - would be ppl like AMV (i know hes not a regular) and joseph2874 or what ever.
A - would be ppl not quite spot on
B- kinda realistic but colour push further.
C - avaerage chopper (nothing special)
D - Kinda c+p (ovious)
E - total crap needs to get a computer. lol
I think this would make ppl aspire to be better, like giving ppl a goal and if they want to progress to the next grade then they will either have to get a voting system once ppl have posted a thread.
like once a user opens a thread in the wip or main section it gives others a chance to mark there work, then either goes up in the world or should try harder.
also you could challenge a person if you are D grade and they are C grade then its like pink slips.
i think this would realy push the level of work on psc and would help ppl progress.
--------------------------
Also i was thinking of a live help center. open 24hours with some1 (hopefuly) there to respond to some n00b questions on the forum or photoshop or general.
these are just some things i think would set the forum apart from other chopping forums.

I think it's a good idea, but it has to be upheld all the time. For instance, if someone posts a chop then you rate the chop and rate the chopper, taking into account previous work and style. It could work really well. Good idea ace.

I think a similar idea was proposed a while back and it was shot down.
I tend to think it would be counter-productive and personally dont really like the idea of rating or judging in this manner.
Of course advanced members will all like and approve because its yet another means of recognition, but those receiving the lower grades would not feel so good about it, even if it is true.
A persons ability or proficiency is easily apparent, publically labeling them as a novice or needing improvment is not the best means of motivation in my book.
Case in-point: Considering Chopperkidds response, how enthused do you think he would be if he ended up receiving a "C" or "D"?

Davinci, you bring up a good point. However, when people post on someone's photoshop, often they don't go into detail of how many things went wrong, what's blurry, unrealistic, etc.
We're recommended to do this and I do it most of the time, but it's either "sweet chop" or "garbage" and maybe the grading system would be helpful when it comes to not being able to provide a full rundown of the chop. I would hope people would still go into detail in their posts, but sometimes it's not possible. The scale provides a way for people to look at their work and ratings from several different perspectives, which could help them along.
In my opinion, motivation is internal. Everytime I do a chop, I think "do you want to do the same thing [some brushing, wheels & c/p parts], or reach a little higher?" The link in my sig, the team chop I did with directport, is a prime example of this. I mixed c/p and brush and we collaborated on a drift battle scene using each other's cars, which might have been done before, but I sure as hell haven't seen it. For the chopper, it's their decision whether they should reach a little higher or keep doing the same thing (BL-Z come to mind?). Other's comments should suggest the weak points, and a rating would help them see how they line up with other members of the board. But overall, it's the artist's decision, on what he art he should create.
Ceff out.

lol. yeah seeing as though i just Moncef Faik gave me C+/B- on my civic drag car. I think is was at least B. idk. I just think that if it gets used that u should get several responses and grades on ur chop...not 1 or 2

well, ya see, id rate the choppers whole portfolio, as in all his chops put on a pile and rated, not his every chop. and it would be good to get a coupla top notch chopper to grade the chopper monthly. and after all, i do not agree with this idea.
oh ye guys, the style may be a matter of style, as in a skyline with wired wheels and golfs fb. i, personally, would think its horrible, but who knows, a blind guy may like it. so style shouldnt be graded as it is a matter of taste in most cases.
originality rating would be more appreciated to rate.
to me, realism comes in first. i like the execution to be real, and same for the ideas. thats my opinnion. and such opinnion would make me rate a simple chop, realistic as hell, better than a plastic melted spaceship-oil painting chop with 4 front bumpers, 2 sideskirts, 11 spoilers and a crazy camber on the wheels, all together put into a video game background, which though, obviously has a lot more effort put into.
that leads to a conclusion that we should make some criterias on rating, not just random things like, ''oh, look, he has a fuzzy dice inside, ill give him an A**********''.
got me?
p.s. im practically new here, so dont mind me getting involved in this.

Well the grade is just opinion, it's not like in school here.
It pretty much relies all on perception, it's not like I don't like you and I'm bashing your work, you know?
Even without grades, sometimes I would feel hella good about a chop I've been working on for awhile and all I'd get for responses is "meh, it's alright" when I busted my *** on it. The grade someone gives you is also a reflection of what they've seen previously from you, their work compared to yours and how they feel about it vs. how they feel about your work, things like that.

the grading is a good idea but think the labelling is a little unfair! come on if someone tells you its complete garbage theres 1 of 2 things thats gonna happen, either take it on the chin and try harder or the chopper is gonna think what a complete bunch of ar**holes and never come back, which is ok if you dont want the site to go any where but if you want it to go anywhere you need to be a lil more understanding when it comes to newbs, im sure when you all started your work was shocking and we all have to start somewhere, but ripping someones work to pieces when they've probably spent alot of time and effort on it doesn't go down to well!

This is a good discussion...
You will all be glad to know that the admins have been discussing the contest/forum/awards/ranks/battle system/etc etc over the last few months and we hope to implement a few things to make more friendly competition and purpose and fun to this site.
No teaser specifics to provide at the moment but keep providing your suggestions.
Thanks

Anybody got any dirt on Carty?
C'mon Davinci, we should at least save a few bucks and try to blackmail him first
