Brushing Techniques?
Is one willing to share some brushing techniques for chopping. Well my real question is when do I know that I am ready for brushing kits?

Hmmm... I don't really know to be honnest. I just brush. Each car is different I suppose. I'm no master at brushing though! You can start brushing when ever you like I guess. Brush small things at first like a small front lip and stuff like that then after alot of practice brush a entire body kit! Use the brush and the smudge tool. Alot of people think the smudge tool is evil but I seriously am not good enough to brush every little reflection

smudge can work ONLY if you use the right edge hardness and the right strength.
a good way to start is to find a simple pic, the car shouldn't have complex reflections.
make an outline of the body part w/pen tool, make it a selection, and copy it into a new layer.
then pick the a matching color, and brush it ALL.
next use the burn tool to do shadows in respective places, and the dodge tool to lighten up places that are supposed to be lighter due to the lighting angle (wow i said light a lot) anyways
its more practice than it is technique. in theory "BRUSHING" parts is simple, but reflections, highlights and shadowing are more complex. you just need to practice it. there's no tutorial to "brush like Carty" you know? it's all practice.

Seriously, who would want to?
But ya, all it takes is practice...and I agree on the point that brushing is actually easy if you know your perspectives, it's the reflections/shading that makes things look real. Study pictures, work on your light sources, reflection sources, take a real picture of a car and look at the reflections in the paint, try to figure out where they are coming from and what body panels do to change/modify the reflections. The photoshop part of things can be very simple, it's learning the way things work in the real world that takes time...
