Default Beginner Tut: Chop Your Roof!

Here's an easy to follow tutorial that I made myself.
The point is to chop your car's roof to give it a new sporty/dub look.

Step 1:
Take a car you would like the roof to be chopped, for this one, I chose the C55 AMG

Step 2:
Take the Rectangular Marquee Tool and select the whole top half of the car/picture.

Step 3:
Press Ctrl+T to go into Free Transform, then take the little box on the top of the picture and drag down.

Step 4:
Press ENTER to confirm then press Ctrl+D to deselect the selection

Step 5:
There's a lot of white space still left on the top, let's crop it so we're only left with the picture. Select the Crop tool and select the picture.

Edit:

Here's a tip from Omicron:

Use your free transform, and then stretch the top back up to the top of the image.

Easy stuff, I guess I can sticky this tut.

Nice tute bro. Its a pretty slick method. I would just add that depending on the picture, it might be better to select, copy and paste selection to a new layer before compressing. Then if you decided that something ended up too distorted (i.e. - mirror, person inside car, background etc.) you could very easily cut and paste as needed, having retained the original image.

old thread to bring up. Personally, I always disliked this effect. Looks stretched and unrealistic.
