#1 Take this picture...

#2 Next, make a duplicate of the image. Make a selection, then hit the "layer mask" button and everything except what you selected will be covered up. Use the brush tool to uncover more areas, click on the layer mask screen then use white to make more show up, and black will cover the image.

#3 Set the blending option to "darken"

#4 Hold control-u, or go to image>adjust>hue&sat. Change the settings to this.

#5 Next, make a duplicate of the origional, and place it above the other duplicated layer. Set the layer mask to the exact same selection as the first duplicated layer. You can grab the same selection by holding control and clicking on the first layer mask. Set the blending to "soft light"

The layers should now look like this...

Now, your all done, you have a red car with some nice highlights.. This is the end result.

Note that the settings will not all be the same on every image...
