Well, the people asked for it and I shall deliver...

This isn't meant to be a step by step tutorial, it's more of a guide kinda thing. You can try exactly what I did but that's not what brushing is all about, it's about creating your own stuff.

This was probably an easier brushing job because the subject picture is a studio shot, therefore not many major reflections to deal with. Might be a good place for newbs to brushing to start...

If anyone has any comments or questions post them here or feel free to PM me, hope this helps...

Also, check out Airbrushing #2 Tutorial also by myself here http://photoshopchop.com/forums/inde...showtopic=9287

OK, this is for the blind people...

1. Let's start with a Dodge Slingshot, kinda cool but could use a few things...
2.How about a side skirt, let's try something simple. Make a selection of what you think the face of the skirt should look like, act like your looking at the skirt head on and just do that selection.
3.Now select colors from other parts of the car and 'brush' the skirt. I used color #1 for the entire skirt and then used color #2 for highlights and shading. I also used color #3 set at a lower Opacity to do the shadow on the bottom of the skirt because it's usually darker underneath. Experimenting with your brush adjustments)Opacity/brush size/brush type) on this step will help you alot, it takes practice but you can get the hang of it eventually.
4. Now we're going to give the skirt some depth. It's easy, use the skirt you've already brushed and add some depth to it. You can make it as wide or as narrow as you want. This step depends alot on the angle of the car, pay good attention to the angle of the car and your skirt will come out correct. Make a selection based on this idea. Note on this car the front of the skirt is wide and the top is very narrow looking. The top is still wide but the angle of the picture kind of thins it out, understand?
5. Now it's as easy as filling in the selection. I used color #1 to do the top of the skirt and color #2 to do the front. I also used color #3, set at a lower Opacity, to shade the front. Looking kinda real now huh? Still needs something...
6. How about a vent to give it a little zing? Start by making a selection of what you think the vent should look like and make sure you make the trailing edge(left side in this case) of the vent much longer than you want it to be.
7. Now select a color from the existing car( I used color #1) and set the Opacity down to around 20 or 30. Brush around the top edge and the rear(entry) make sure to fade the brush off the trailing side(left side) before you get to the end of your selection. Then continue to set the Opacity higher and do the same thing over and over until you get the desired look. I think this is about right for the lighting in this picture.
8. Next we need some highlights on the bottom of the vent. Choose your selection tool(set to Subtract from selection) and try to match what you did on the top of the vent with the shadow. Get rid of everything that shouldn't be there(in your eyes).
9. Next I just filled in the selection with color #1 and it's done.It could still use some touch ups here and there but that's the basics. Doesn't look to bad does it?
10. Thought we were doen didn't you? Not yet, let's add a roof. First, make a selection where the roof should sit.
11. Next fill it in with colors from the existing car, I used a combonation of colors #1 #2 #3 and #4. You'll have to play around with the color to get it to look right. Note that I didn't worry about the side of the roof for now, since the color is going to be much brighter.
12. I used the selection tool(set to Subtract from selection)and deselected the roof that I had already brushed, leaving only the side section selected. I then used colors #1 and #2 for filling in the side section. A little choppy but it can be fixed easily.
13. Nope not done yet, let's get some more airflow into the engine, how about a little hood vent(or under the hood vent if you wanna get technical). Make a selection where you want the vent to be.
14. Next fill it in with a color from the existing picture, I used color#1.
15. Next part can be a little tricky, use colors from the existing picture(again) and brush a little color on the bottom and left side of the vent. I used color #1 set to different levels of Opacity to do this. Opacity can be set a little brighter on the left side because more light would hit that side.
16. This shot may look a little strange to people but let me explain before you write me off as crazy. The vent needed some more highlights/reflections on the vent surround. What I did was use the selection tool(set to Add to selection) and added some more selection to the existing selection of the vent. Note that I left the bottom and left side of the original selection right where they were, that's where I wanted the highlights. After doing so I inversed the selection and started highlighting the edges using color #1, you'll see in the end I'm not crazy...
17. The end result, everything could use a little more attention to detail but not too bad for a few minutes of chopping and and hour or 4 typing and putting together this tutorial(and then re-typing it for the blind people :P )...

I have a tough time reading it. You may want to just add text under each image. Then again I stare a computer 18 hours out of each day.

nice airbrushing dude.

if you really want it to look awesome, you should add a shadow on the driver's seat. Look at it a little bit and it looks like its sticking out or something.
