Mike's MKIV GTI
thats right, i just got a new car.
2001 VW GTI VR6
2.8L V6
174 hp / 181 lb-ft.
when i bought it, it had some mirror tint, a cheap muffler, drilled and slotted front rotors, and a neuspeed CAI.
heres the only pics i could get before my camera battery died.
you can see a bit of break dust...ive been driving it a lot!
neuspeed CAI

ah a GTI, going euro are we?
good choice, I've heard they are quick cars and have a lot of aftermarket support. Neuspeed makes a lot of stuff for them just so ya know. How much did you pay? Any mods planned?
And yes, pics please!

thats just the covers for the plate frames...if you look in the rear window, you can see the temporary plate taped in the window.

ill get some more pics when i have time. the air force is keeping me very busy right now. the 2.8 is an engine that VW was putting the the GTI for a while; makes a little more torque than the 1.8T, i think.

baby got new shoes! 17x8 konig crosshairs, 225/45R17 yokohama YK520 tires.
heres the only pic i had the chance to take. ill have more soon.
and ace, to answer your question from a few months ago (i was a total VW noob then), the 2.8L VR6 was a us and canada market only optional engine for the GTI.

Man those look really nice. You disappoint me however, with your non-aggressive wheel offsets, lack of fender pullage, or tire stretch.
But those are awesome, nevertheless
What's your next move Mike?

oh, it hauls some arse, trust me. ive had no problem hitting illegal speeds. my engine is the 174hp 12v VR6, and 2002+ VR6s (GTI and jetta/bora) had a 24v 200hp VR6. i do have VVT on the intake side, though!
and wildman, i did some thinking about those tires. the reason i didnt go with them wasnt because they were going to rub (though they might have a little), but because when i get back to colorado, those tires would have had zero traction in the snow. i went with the set of yoko all seasons, similar to what i used to have. the old ones did prett decent in the snow, and these new ones have a more agressive tread pattern, so they should do even better.
