Default FF Causing High CPU Usage

Hmmm..

For some reason, Firefox is laggin a whole bunch lately. It never used to do this. Before it would usually show up as 11,000 mem usage in task manager and now its like 50,000 (71,000 right now) I check the spu usage chart, and when im not doing anything its anywhere between 4-7%. When I scroll down a page its 40-70%. This is getting ridiculous. And I just updated to Firefox 1.0.2 (however this has been going on longer. I went and scanned my computer with Housecall to see if there were any viruses, and there were, but it was some irrelevant java **** that alwasy seems to pop up when I do a virus check (even though I deleted the files).

So what is it? Too many extensions? Is it the upgrade to 1.0.1? Should I go back to 1.0? Should I just reinstall? wtf is going on!

Doesn't sound like extensions or themes to me. Seems like you have some maliciousware going on. Maybe some adware or spyware.

yea firefox is a ramhog. when i first boot it up it already takes up like 15 megs of ram. right now ive left it open for about 2 hours and its usin nearly 60 megs. my cpu usage doesnt go up that high when scrolling tho, only like 20%

the other day i left my computer on overnight with fiefox, photoshop and illustrator all running and when i went on the next day it said i had ran out of virtutal memory. i checked in task manager and firefox was using a ton of ram

Ugh this logoff/logon crap isn't doing the trick anymore...

I'm starting to think my scratch disk for FF is getting full so I may end up having to get rid of a lot more than I thought...

Well I've made a couple backup CD's... time to make more.
