I Hate My Computer

well, first off, about a week ago, my comp crashed into a million pieces.....so we took it to a guy in town to get it fixed. what he did helped a little, but not much. every time windows would start up (windows 2000), it would cut to a black screen and restart. it would go in a cycle of this restarting b.s. for about three or 4 cycles, then it would let you work (and anyone who has windows 2k knows it takes forever to boot up :angry: ). so me and my dad finally got fed up with it, so i backed up all my files onto cds and we tried to reformat it. we cleared off the hd, then uninstalled windows, then reinstalled windows, then started to reinstall everything, and after rebooting the comp for a program installation........bam! it goes into it's gay little restarting cycle again.......by this point, i'm about ready to throw my comp out the window.....
so, we took it back to the computer guy in town, and it still...has...the....same....problem..........only this time, it fakes you out into thinking it will stay on, then once you try to open a program, it turns itself off........i love computers.

so anywho, i was wondering if anyone (nogod) could help me with this problemo?

upgrade to xp it might be the cd you used for the installs so my sugestion is to check into a version of xp

hm theres a way you can turn off auto-restart when it finds a problem so that it will give you a blue screen error before it reboots (which it shouldn't reboot, you should to that yourself).

ill go look for the setting.

EDIT

First off right click on my computer. Click on properties. Go to Advanced and click on Startup and Recovery. This will bring open another window. Look for automatically reboot and uncheck it.

there's another problem- when i turn it on, it shows the initial black screen with my system info on it, then, instead of going to the "starting windows" screen, it cuts to a plain black screen and does nothing.... it makes you restart it a couple of times before it'll load windows........do you know what the deal with that is?

edit: now, after loading windows and beginning to work, it cuts to a blue error screen that says "beginning dump of physical memory" but the screen is broken up with these really strange dark green lines...... :huh:

hm both of those problems are not good news. I'm guessing your memory might be going but I'm no expert. How old is the memory?
