Adobe Photoshop is basically standard.. hence the word photoshop. The latest Adobe Photoshop is Photoshop CS5.1 I think. If you want something free I recommend GIMP.

Gimp works for me, but, like photoshop, it takes lots of practice.

i can understand the confusion. people see a certain item as the all encompassing term for that type of product.

in my mom's case:
all mp3 players are ipods
any photoediting software is a photoshop
"fast cars" are only american muscle cars
the word "volkswagen" only refers to aircooled bugs
etc, etc.

I'm going with GIMP because it's what I know, but I'm working on my first one in photoshop as we speak, an entirely different animal lol
