Yes another Photoshop painting! I'll post some more WIPs soon. Let me know what you think so far. Also, this Background is just a temp, so I can see if there are any "holes" where my layers didn't line up Also, this was all done using paths & brushes.

I've had this discussion many times with other artists before. My goal is NOT to achieve an "artsy" effect. This kind of disipline challenges the artist because you must train yourself to have an eye for detail, you learn alot about perspective and different methods of achieving realistic renderings. You can then apply these methods to your own designs (which I'll post eventually). Also, I've noticed that one can't really critique "artsy" style or "toon" drawings because what standard can you compare it to? It's easy to say "what's the point?" if you're judging from the safety of the cartoon style. I would like to challenge everyone to try this particular style. I think you could learn alot about the way you perceive your environment and maybe learn some different methods for results. And really....what's the point of anything???? It's just really fun to challenge yourself sometimes. Also, I'd like to do do some cut-away technical drawings and this is a good base.

I just added some more details, still deciding on the type of background though.

This is kind of what I had in mind. To just reveal certain sections of the workings of the car. Keep in mind that I JUST started this so I've barely scratched the surface.

i have to say i agree with vipey. i do this stuff too but i only go for realism if im going to mod the car. all you have done is pretty much trace http://www.autoblog.com/media/2006/0...ur-resized.jpg and you haven't modded it other than to lose the bumper censors. it is top quality i admit but its piss easy to do... thats why people like dangeruss and phoenix are so highly regarded as they mod the cars and still do them to high details instead of just redrawing a photo

You actually think it's EASY to do this??? Did you not read the last post. This is a technical illustration. I wanted to stay true to the stock image. I wasn't trying to achieve some sort of individuality with this. In fact, I'll bet there are fewer on this forum who do this style than tooning. As for Dangeruss, he does highly DETAILED illustrations that could hardly be refferred to as "toons". FYI he "traces" his images also and he doesn't always mod them, he just applies his own style. This is my style, I do perform this look via traditional means as well (painting drawing and burnishing) without "tracing". Have a look at my DA account and HERE
