Help drawing nice smooth curves

Hi there i'm hoping someone can help me.

My plan is to make the arches of this focus look like the are carbon fibre (which i'm still working on) but i cant get it to follow the nice smooth curve of the orginal arch.

and as you can see it looks very poor. is there some way to cet nice curves?

Are you familiar with the pen tool?

I have had little experience with it. I have used it to get the curve i needed for this arch. Took me hours to get it how i wanted. I think i need to spend more time playing around with it.
any tips welcome

Go through some pen tool tutorials.

Exactly for what you are doing the pen tool would be appropriate. A really easy way is to just draw the arch with the pen tool making nice curves, connect the lines and then right click > make selection and then you have a curved selection.

Delete/erase the excess CF!
