How do you color balance the different light sources so that they match? I've got PaintShop Pro 5 and would appreciate any help you can give. This is the closest I can match colors on a flash "people" shot combined with a sunshine "model" shot. Any tips?

Now got that settled we can get somewhere. LOL It seems that even though it is supposedly clear, the air between the full size photo subject and the air in the shorter distance of the model shot causes the most problems. I'm thinking that maybe doing a gausien blur of the model before the chop may help somewhat. Any ideas?

Luke, let me try to clarify what your askin....you want the light sources for both the model/background picture and the light sources for the people picture to match up, right?
If so, it might be kinda difficult to get it exactly right on. Desaturate will not help, I don't think...desaturate turns things black and white. Maybe play with the brightness/contrast and try to match both pictures.
It won't be easy but I'm sure someone will know a better way of doing it, someone with a little more experience in things other than chopping cars. In fact, maybe try to find some other sites with general tutorials for photograhpy and stuff rather than a car chopping site, seeing as your working with real pictures there might be better info somewhere else...

I'm sorry but that is NOT a model car.
Look at the roll cage and the rubber tyres.

Thanks daBB for the compliment on my models (I think). All of them have roll bars and tires. That's part of what makes them race car models. LOL Guys, most of the problem I'm having is getting the same "look" from a picture shot in macro a few inches away from the subject(the model) as the pic shot in normal lense several feet away(the people). And that doesn't even begin to address the problem of shadows on widely varying surfaces in the background. I guess I'll just have to keep practicing until I get good enough to airbrush those in. Thanks for all the help and letting me bore you my pics of toy cars.

HAHAHA, burned you daBB....
It is truly amazing what people can do with models now-a-days, it's not like it used to be. I used to paint and glue that's about it. Now there's putty(bondo), mini everything(saws, drills, etc), tons of details you can buy(plug wires, wheels, lugnuts, anything else you can think of) and tons of new methods to do everything and anything you'd find on a real car. And one cannot forget the all powerful DREMEL, the hobbiest drean come true.
I was into modeling for a long time but slowly got out of it. I've still got all my stuff and lots of unfinished things sittin on the bench but someday I'll get back into it...I guess PS has takin over my hobby for the time being.
Hey Luke, would you be interested in taking some pictures for me, of your stuff? Seeing as your a modeler and a photographer too, I think this idea in my head is perfect for you and me...let me know.
