When i try to go to my documents, or my comp, or my pix, etc. and periodically in IE, i get a message saying an error has occured and it has to close it, when looking in my comp, docs, pix, etc, it doesn't even let me open it, it just immediately pops up and says that, I have Norton AntiVirus and it didn't find anything, and when i run Spybot i get an error

ok most likely ie is having errors due to the fact that somone is trying to hit you with a virus and norton is trying to block it what i would do is go to www.mozilla.org download mozilla then disable internet explorer ie is just a faulty assed program that microsoft uses to spy on you anyways

Doesn't your dad own Dell or something? Maybe ask him if he can figure it out or just hook you up with someone he supervises to talk to you and get it straightened out...

He doesnt own dell, and he knows abosolutely nothing about fixing computers, he makes ads, and SELLS computers
EDIT: I'm sure he could get someone to come fix this, but this is the laptop i take every day to school, I really dont want to wait a week to get it fixed, and yes, even after i disabled IE i still cant get into my docs, pix, etc

This happened with me, it turns out that my explorer.exe file (helps with running the gui) was totally corrupt, i searched for ages looking for a solution but the PC became pretty unstable, so as always i had to format...

So is there anyway to fix that problem without completely reinstalling windows and re-formatting everything?

now if the problem is explorer.exe then a system restore back to the date the os was installed might fix it if not then the os needs to be reinstalled

it depends on how far you are going back if you go back before it was installed it will be gone and inorder to do a system restore you press
start/all programs/ accessories/ system tools/ system restore . then you choose a date and press next and let it do its work

ok. How far would you suggest i go back? I got my computer in late july, but didn't have a problem with it until last week. Do you think going back to september 6th would be alright, or would you take it all the way back?

it doesnt let me do system restore, it does the shut down thing, does the longish restore thing, loads back up and says 'system restore is not able to go back to that point' and i've tried a few different restore points but its keeps saying that (thats not word 4 word its just similar) is it really ffff****** up
