OMG, that's very nice.
But what if the interior is also yellow, and you don't want it to be the same color as the rest of the car.

yea.. ive been using that for the past like.. 3 months, but i didnt no how to make a tut with pictures, so i jus left it
if u dont want the interior to change color, make a selection of the interior, the go SELECT>INVERSE. then proceed as normal

easier way to do it would be to make a copy of the leyer, so the color change, and then use the eraser to erase all the other stuff that might have changed instead of making a selection wich could lead to dismal results.

I use the same technique, except use a new fill/adjustment layer
In the layer toolbar, click the Little circle with white and black, and then click hue and saturation
from there its the same thing, cept it adds a nice little layer right on top of it..and best thing about it is there is a mask in which u can change to delete the hue changes from the rest of the image.... (white and black of course...white = change, black = no change at all...use greys for different opacity levels of the change...good for reflections and such)
and of course can make a ton of different hue and saturation layers and just click em off to change colors instantly

No you don't.
This kind of painting will work really good, as long as there's nothing else in the picture that has the same 'color' as the car. Because, let's say your car is red and there's a red cow in the bg. If you use this method to change the color of the car to let's say blue, the color of the cow will also change to blue...and who wants a blue cow?

well i want a blue cow....lol
yeah, it can get tricky with a red car and red brake calipers....
notice how the trophy and parts of the magazines change colors with the car

all you would have to do is copy the original layer, change the color, then erase whatever changed colors that you didnt like.
or you could just make a rough selection around the whole car (like 60 pixels away from teh car) before you do the hue saturation adjust.
although this is definately the method to use when you have reflectiions of the car (water on ground, glass buildings... side mirrors)
