Ford Fans - Classic Ford Show 2009
Here's a few pics from this years Classic Ford Show down at Santa Pod Raceway. It was a scorcher of a weekend and there were a lot of good looking cars, from rat to concourse.
All of these pics were taken by me, but please feel free to steal them or whatever... just tell me if you do and don't crop off my name... or matte black vectra will kill you
A UK spec Mustang GTR (note right hand drive)
V8 Ford Popular
ProStreet cars blasting down the strip
A very nice Anglia that had had its roof chopped
Apparently, not a rat Mk1 Escort
Santa Pod's resident jet car - FireForce
No comment on this one lol
Granada hearse with Capri front
An Escort RS Cosworth in Tourmallard Green
CAPRIS!!!!!
Mk1 Escort Van heading down the strip

Yeah, watched it do it's last run down the strip on the Sunday. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me at that point (silly, I know). On its first run down the strip I was standing at the other side of the stands and could still feel the thud

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't more classic Mustangs and other American Fords. There was a Mustang 2 there... but... that's not quite the same really.

What's so amazing about Japanese cars (I'm not meaning to start any debates or arguments, so please don't take it that way).
Santa Pod is in Podington, Bedfordshire...

if you come to America the only cars still on the road from the early 80's to mid 90's are Japanese cars, simple deduction would suggest that the Japanese automobile is of superior design and engineering.
classic american muscle..no question.
cars built in the last 20 years....Japanese owns all as far as reliability, value, resale, popularity, tuning, afforda bility..really it is obvious.
any haters just go out to the major street in any town u.s.a. and count the number of imports (Japanese)compared to the number of american built cars, what do you see more of?? (don't bother cause you know the answer)
plus nothing is better then seeing a mustang getting schooled by a 5th or 6th gen civic sleeper.

That's fair enough... But don't a lot of them tend to break, quite seriously in some cases? I know a guy who has an Evo 5 and he's had nothing but problems with it, and correct me if I'm wrong, Evos tend to need serviced something like every 6,000 miles? That's a lot of time and money. Same with a friend that has a Scoobie... He may need to get a new turbo soon.
I may be wrong about this, and I really don't mind being proven wrong. And I'm well aware that people are allowed to have their own opinion

Jap cars are nearly all nice cars, however nearly ALL of the GREAT cars come from Europe, and there is the Corvette and Camaro that came from the U.S., and a few others.

are you referring to exotics? because i agree.
but as far as daily driver's, Japanese cars still dominate the landscape here.
European cars cost an arm and a leg to repair in comparison to a honda or toyota

hmm and i guess he drives it like a granny...or like he stole it?
personal preference is what it all comes down to really!
but as far as the manufactures race here in the states, its obvious who is winning that

Best-selling vehicle nameplate - Toyota Corolla (more than 32,000,000 sold in nine generations since 1966)
Best single-year sales - 1.36 million - 2005 Toyota Corolla.
but i will say ford f series is right behind the corolla
and golf's behind that
Statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that were publicized in “Auto Industry Update: 2006,” a presentation by Farmington Hills, Mich., research company CSM Worldwide, show only 65% of the content of a Ford Mustang comes from the U.S. or Canada. Ford Motor Co. buys the rest of the Mustang’s parts abroad. By contrast, the Sienna, sold by Japan’s Toyota Motor Corp., is assembled in Indiana with 90% local components.
hmmm toyota..more american than GASP ford?

That's all very understandable, Honda's can go on forever.
Now that you mention Ford parts coming from elsewhere... Ford UK, instead of developing their own engines, are just dropping in engines made by Mazda... And their new cars don't seem to have as many options as others. Like the new Vauxhall Insignia comes with an AWD system and soon to be VXR... Whereas Ford are just slapping on an RS badge on a Focus, giving it loads of power... but leaving it front wheel drive
