Color Matching

Im having a hard time matching my car color with the donor car parts like skirts and such they won't match color wise :S any help would be appreciated

ok. this is a common n00b problem and i had it myself once.

first off make the donor skirt/bumper (donor part) grayscale (de-saturated(no colour))

then make the body of your car grayscale too. add any parts you want like vents,bumpers,wings and stuff.

the trick is to make sure the grays match first which is easier than full colour. (use curves and levels to adjust the grays)

then colour the overall body with a selection of the whole thing (including new parts) on a new layer fill a colour of your choice. then play with the layer effects until it looks right (overlay is normally good).

thats the best way i found.

hey guys ... im chopping a WRX STI... I added nyc rims... dark windows... I also added a sweet front bumper and from the side mirrors I put the new GTR Skyline back... And trust me it all looks great... I even added nyc skirts and lowered it... But iv got one problem... and iv looked through the forums and tryed the tutorails but i cant get.....The problem is that the original car colour , the skyline back colour and the front bumper colour dont match... I tried desaturating it but it still a different colour... I need Help

Color is the hardest part if you ask me.

You can change the brightness/contrast and mess with the whole desaturation thing, but you will still need to adjust the lighting on the imported image(s)

It may be a perfect fit, but if the lighting isnt the same you can see the difference. Use curves to lighten and darken the image and also dont forget about blending layers together. Thats helps alot as well.
