Exclamation anybody good with car audio or electrics in general?

i own a 1999 peugeot 206 (unfortunately) i upgraded the standard head unit with a pioneer one that i bought from halfords i have had it working for 5 months but the fm stations wouldnt save when the car was turned off so i looked on the pioneer web page and it said the red and yellow wires needed to change, so i did and it worked.... but the next time i turned on the car all i heard was a few beeps, when i turned the car off and on again the radio had no power atall so i thought it may be a fuse or the radio but i replaced all of the fuuses and also tried it with the old radio and still no power, please could someone diagnose what has potentially gone wrong because without the loud music i can hear my car rattling itself to an early death.

the head unit is a Pioneer DEH-50UB if that has any relevence thanks for your help

French electrics.

End of.

XD

Read through your post a good number of times, and I'm wracking my brain to think of something, being that I've spend a fair amount of time pissing about with CD players and the like, so I might know something.
Unless your looms just fubar'd.

this happened to me before, i put a sony in my durango. I dont remember the wire colors or anything but one of the wires supplies constant power to the radio even when the car is off so that it will remember the stations and everything. I had mine hooked up wrong and when i shut the truck off id lose all my stations and settings. Find the t wire in your car and radio and make sure its hooked up right. sorry i cant help any further but that might be able to get you goin on the right path to fixing it.

Read over this and see if any of the solution in there work for you. It's using another car and the radio has a different problem but I think the idea should fix both problems.

Good luck, my friends and I have installed so many radios in my day. I have never run into this problem, but then again I've installed them on everything but french cars, lol.

Try finding someone with a DMM (digital multimeter) or even an analog and see if a current is running through the yellow wire. If there is no current while the car is off then you won't have any power to save your radio pre-sets.

Good luck!

Heres a thought.

Is it grounded properly? If not that could be the cause.

Have you check the fuses in the actual car itself, you'll find you've probably shorted a wire out somewhere look in the fuse box to the car and check all the fuses.

If not, blame france..

remote shouldn't really come into it unless hes running a separate amp?

umm.. it has a remote lead too normally it's connected to the car's ignition switchbut like in my car it's connected straigth to the battery so you can use the radio even if the keys are not in it.

I'm talking about the pin7 "Switched +12v supply" = remote
