Cool Sedan to Coupe

How To Turn A Sedan Into A Coupe(First Tutorial)( CLICK ON THUMBNAILS )

I've looked around for a tutorial for this when i first started photoshoping, and i couldn't find one. About a week ago i was car shopping and i wished jettas came as a coupe, now it does

Step 1
Find a nice picture of a sedan (4 door, or 5 door) car. I chose this jetta:

Step 2
Try your best to get rid of the rear door jam / line.
-make copy of background layer (incase you make mistakes, you have a backup ready)
-select along one side of the door jam with lasso tool:

-Use the smudge tool and smudge from the clean area (door panel). Use small horizontal strokes to drag across and cover the door line:
Do this all the way up the door.
-For the bottom of the door, do the same, but instead of a horizontal stroke, do vertical ones.

Step 3
Now you want to get rid of that door handle so you need to 'shave' it.
-select a rectangle beside the door handle about the same size, if not a little bigger:

-copy(ctrl+c) then paste(ctrl+v). it will be in a new layer, move it over top of the door handle:

Step 4
If you have ever noticed on coupes, the doors are longer (this is to let people in the back, durrr). You need to make the door longer!
-Use lasso and select the back foot of the drivers door:

-now copy and paste selection. move the extention a fair bit back until it looks right:
use smudge, and free transform to make it fit like i did.

Step 5
Next is you need to make the rear window smaller.
-hide the new door extention, and copy the column from the background layer:

-Use the Free Transform tool (ctrl+t) to resize, skew to make it fit right:

Step 6
Last step i believe!
You need to make the rear window a single window meaning takeing out the bar going down it (its what seperates the window and lets it roll down in sedans)
-Select on one side of the bar and copy selected, and then paste it. Free transform it and stretch it over the bar, do this again on the other side if needed. You should know enough now how to make it look right:
do same for opposite window!

If this tutorial has helped, or you like it, post your success stories (your sedan conversions)

One minor thing that alot of the seasoned choppers will notice and probably point out is that you left the small black pillar in the rear window on the opposite side of the car.....little things like these will seperate your chop from others...

For the most part I was able to use my own process to do a sedan to Coupe on my Maxima. It was my first time I tried too.
