Creating Dents Tutorial This tutorial will show you how to create a realistic dent effect on your car.
Step 1:
Lets take this Nissan to start with.
Step 2:
Choose a 5 pixel or larger depending on how big you want your dents to be. white brush.
Step 3:
Open up the brushes preset Window/Brushes
Step 4:
Before starting a new patten make sure to create a new layer like so.
Step 5:
Go to the brushes pallete (windows->brushes). From the window turn on scattering, then press 'brush tip shape' and increase the spacing to about 500 percent.
Step 6:
Please choose scattering and make your values the same as below
Step 7:
Click on shape dynamics, increase the size jitter to about 10 percent and the roundness jitter to 100 percent
Step 8:
Now take your brush tool and make some spots where you want the dents to be. I was a little over zealous on this one.
Step 9:
Now take your new layer with the dents and right click on the layer and choose blending options. From this menu make sure to choose Bevel and Emboss. Make your values similar to what I have below.
Step 10:
From the same menu choose Contour and set your values to what I have below.
Step 11:
With a little bit of playing around you will have something like this.
