Creating Water Droplets This tutorial will show you how to create a realistic water droplet effect.
Step 1:
Let start off by taking this old school muscle car hood.
Step 2:
Lets create a new layer as shown below.
Step 3:
Now select a sharp edged brush from our brush tool.
Step 4:
With your brush tool you will now need to create round brush marks all over the hood. Now remember you want to change the size of the brush so you don't have all the same size water droplets. To dynamically change the size of the brush use the bracket keys "[,]" Once this is done choose Filter/Distort/Wave and make your values roughly the same as I have below.
Step 5:
Your picture should look something like this. Now you will need to change your layer from Normal to Screen.
Step 6:
It will first appear as if there is nothing showing on your new layer. Don't worry we are going to add a blending effect to this. Right click on your new layer and choose Blending Options.
Step 7:
Set your Drop Shadow to something similar to what is below.
Step 8:
Now set your inner shadow to what I have below.
Step 9:
Set your Inner Glow to what I have below.
Step 10:
Now for the final touch with teh Bevel and Emboss. Set yours to what I have below. Play around a bit though and you may come up with something even better.

You should now have something similar to this.

Now all you have to do is use the image/adjust/free transform option and make your droplets a little smaller. Once you have the desired size pattern you like all you have to do is duplicate the layer a few times and position them around to object you are putting droplets on. Not a bad effect at all.
