Creating A Open Car Hood. This tutorial will show you how to create a realistic looking open car hood.
Step 1:
Lets first start off with this attractive looking silver BMW.
Step 2:
Lets use the polygon lasso tool and select an open hooded Toyota that we have random selected from a google image search. Once selected choose Edit/Copy and then on your BMW picture choose Edit/Paste.
Step 3:
Once pasted onto the new BMW image the hood is going to originally be facing the other way. Only in this example though. You may finda hood that faces the correct way. If you do not then just choose the newly pasted hood layer and then select Edit/Transform/Flip Horizontal. You will then have it facing the correct way. Once facing the correct way it will not be quite complete. We have to make it fit over the original BMW hood. To do so you will need to use the Edit/Transform/Distort option. Play around until it fits to your liking. Once it has fit to your liking you may wish to make the new hood layer appear as if it fits into the new BMW layer more realistically. In this case all I used was the Brightness/Contrast option. To select that option choose the hood layer and then click Image/Adjustments/Brightness/Contrast. I have chosen the below values but you will obviously be picking something diferent depending on the host car.
Step 4:
When completed you should have something like this. In some cases you may have to use the eraser tool on the pasted hood layer around some of the edges of the layer just to make it fit a little more correct.
